Tips for Sewing with Felt
TIP for holding pieces in place for sewing: Felt pieces can be pinned to the body shape to hold them in place until they are stitched.
Another option is to place a tiny dab of instant dry fabric glue on the reverse side of felt shapes and position them on the puppet’s body. I use Beacon Fabri-Tac glue for this farm animal finger puppet craft.

How to Make Farm Animal Finger Puppets

Gather materials and print the pattern
6” x 9” felt sheets of white, brown, dark brown, light beige, beige, dark pink, pink, medium brown, light gray, and dark gray; (find great felt at Benzie Design or find more buying options in the Types of Felt section of the How to Sew Felt blog post)
Small (embroidery) scissors (my favorite ones are KAI 5 1/2 inch embroidery scissors or KAI 6 1/3 inch patchwork scissors)
Embroidery floss - brown, beige, pink, gray, dark gray, black, white (try DMC embroidery floss)
Embroidery needle - Clover Embroidery needle size 3-9
Glue or pins (optional - to help you hold felt pieces before sewing)
Use the template shared in the farm animal pattern to cut out all felt shapes from felt. The SVG file is also included in the pattern. If you own a die-cut machine, use the SVG file and easily cut your felt pieces.
3. Follow the instructions to sew dog, horse, goat, pig, sheep, cow, and cat puppets. The free pattern for the dog finger puppet is available in FREEBIES.
